Maya Glavin

I am Maya Priyanka Glavin. I live in Ottawa, Canada. Township of Kanata. I have Asperger's Syndrome and was adopted by a Canadian family from an unwed Mother in an orphanage in Calcutta, India (Priyanka was my name in the orphanage). This is about my story. I wanted this project to involve people of the same likeness dealing my life story. However I am also trying to find other sources of funding as well. I just really want to inspire other, people who maybe struggling with disabilities, also inspire young athletes. I use hockey in a therapeutic manor in a way to cope with my syndrome. I decided to put together a film project to bring awareness to Asperger's. I really hope you can see how much potential this film project has. I was born into this World, from an unwed mother in a Calcutta, India Orphanage in 1998. With the efforts of a Sister there, she was given a second chance at life, when a Canadian family adopts her. Doctors first misdiagnosed Maya with Cerebral Palsy, only to find out later as a pre-teen at 13 yrs old, was finally told she suffered from Asperger’s Syndrome. That mixed with extreme ADHD, which is most common amongst most teens.
